Biography

Dr. Lim Kim Hwa is the Deputy Director and a Senior Research Scientist at the Centre for Remote Imaging, Sensing and Processing (CRISP) at the National University of Singapore (NUS). He began his association with CRISP in 1998 after completing his MSc under Prof. Lim Hock in the Department of Physics at NUS. In 2002, Dr. Lim pursued a PhD in computational medical imaging at Duke University, graduating in 2007. Dr. Lim's research spans various remote sensing domains, including synthetic aperture radar (SAR), interferometric SAR (InSAR), water color remote sensing, forest fire detection, image processing, calibration/validation, and machine learning applications. His career includes a tenure in industry as CTO of Lighthaus Imaging Pte Ltd before rejoining CRISP in 2020 to lead machine learning and strategic research initiatives.
