Mr. Mert Can Turkmen

PhD Candidate, School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, NTU SATIN, Singapore

Biography

Mert Can Turkmen is a third-year PhD candidate in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), specializing in AI-driven ionospheric modeling. His research focuses on space weather, with particular emphasis on geomagnetic storms, and aims to advance the predictive capabilities of ionospheric models using state-of-the-art machine learning techniques. He has a strong interest in local and regional ionospheric modeling, where capturing fine-scale spatiotemporal variability is critical for operational reliability. By developing models that remain accurate and resilient under both quiet and disturbed conditions, he seeks to deliver reliable and comprehensive ionospheric forecasts. His work contributes to improving GNSS signal performance for critical applications, including aviation and other safety- and reliability-sensitive systems.
